Frequently asked questions about Hypnotherapy, Hypnosis and benefits.

  • What is hypnotherapy used for?
It is far too long and varied to catalogue but certainly includes: anxiety, panic, phobias, unwanted habits and addictions (e.g. smoking, overeating, alcoholism), disrupted sleep patterns, lack of confidence and low self-esteem, fear of examinations and public speaking. Helping also with sports confidence, dealing with pressure and dealing with self-doubt talk to name a few., the list is endless. Please see my services available section, feel free to ask if you need something answered.
  • Can I be hypnotized?
I am a strong believer that all hypnosis is Self hypnosis, I even teach in some cases to get yourself in a hypnotic state. We all in our everyday lives experience a hypnotic state, such as driving and then being aware of being further down the road. Wondering what happened to the last five miles. Reading a book and being aware that your partner has been asking "Do you want a cup of tea?" for the last five minutes. Everyone that is open to hypnosis will experience some level of hypnosis and like anything else, with practice, it improves.
  • How do you hypnotise someone?
I will simply ask you to make yourself comfortable, close your eyes and listen to me as you rest there. Surprisingly there are hundreds of methods of inducing trance.
  • Can I get stuck in Hypnosis?
No is the answer. You will either just return to full awareness naturally or you will just fall off to sleep then and just wake up naturally.
  • Who has control?
You cannot be asked to do something that would go against your moral compass or what you would not happily do when fully conscious. I strongly believe that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis, my role is to act as a guide for your benefit.
  • Will you get me to cluck like a chicken?
Remember the answer above, who has control? This might be something a stage hypnotist may ask you to do, but you be pleased to know this is not what we are doing. Hypnotherapy is completely different, we are using hypnosis and therapy to overcome and create a solution for you.
  • What happens at the initial consultation ?
It’s an informal meeting, an opportunity for me to build up a proper picture of you and gain the information needed later to personalize your sessions. Also importantly it is an opportunity for you to ask as many questions as you like.
  • How many sessions will I need?
There is no definite answer to this however what I can say is that I can give you a rough estimate. Each session should move you forward towards your target and it's entirely down to you to decide when these finish. Also the governing bodies I belong to, forbid me from prolonging any therapy for financial gain, I choose to be a member as these bodies' regulations sit comfortably with my personal standards.
  • How much does hypnotherapy cost?
It depends on the nature of the session. The initial thirty-minute consultation is completely free and then later sessions depends on the reason for the visit. A normal session is £60 an hour. For the past life regression experience, the fee is £90. Smoking cessation and Weight management are programs costing £150 and £240 respectively Standard session £60 Past life regression £90 Smoking Program £150 Weight Program £240
  • What kind of results can I expect from Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy requires commitment and outcomes vary. The more you want it , the better.
  • Who may benefit from Hypnotherapy?
The answer to this question is virtually everyone. Hypnotherapy can be used to access a person’s inner potential and as probably no one is performing to their actual potential, then this answer is literally true. However, it is not just potential that hypnotherapy is well placed to address but also one’s inner resources to effect beneficial change.
